Metal and X-ray-detectable products are especially important in ice cream because the process is a perfect storm for foreign-body risk: cold temperatures make some plastics more brittle, lines run with scrapers, cutters, scoops, and small tools, and there are frequent changeovers for flavours and inclusions. If a piece of a tool, PPE item, or maintenance consumable (like a seal or O-ring) breaks or goes missing, detectable versions give your metal detector or X-ray system a much better chance of finding it before product ships.

They also strengthen HACCP and audit evidence in an environment where visual checks are unreliable (frozen product, condensation, high-speed packing). Detectable items turn “we hope nothing broke” into “if it did, we can detect it.”
