Demand Planner - UK

We are looking to recruit a full-time Demand Planner at our Head Office in Pocklington, near York. To join an industry leader at a very exciting time in its development, growth and expansion. This is a new role that is crucial to our expansion across our key global markets.

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Demand Planner to join our expanding business and have real impact. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and working closely with the Supply Chain Team, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations, you will
- Be a central player in the creation and implementation of a structured Sales and Operational Planning Process for the group
- Set inventory levels, including safety stock, and replenishment requirements to achieve availability and financial objectives
- Develop Demanding Planning methodologies, including forecasting, and possess the scope to own and manage a Demand Planning IT application, such as NetStock Hybrid working is an option for the right candidate.
Duties & responsibilities
- Support the Supply Chain Manager and Operations Director as S&OP champion, assisting with S&OP implementation activities and driving engagement in the process
- Responsible for the Demand review within the S&OP process and produce the Demand and Inventory Plan
- Manage the key ERP parameters, including ROP, ROQ and leadtime, and critical demand data (PLM, seasonality, product groups)
- Produce required replenishment orders
- Highlight and review the gap between the demand plan and sales budget. To work with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to resolve
- Work with Production Planning and Management so that WOs and capacity planning are aligned to the Demand and Inventory Plan
- Work with Supply Planning so that POs are aligned to the Demand and Inventory Plan and resolve any supply vs. demand conflicts
- Work with S&OP stakeholders to improve plans to meet demand and achieve financial goals
- Track and report forecast changes, risks and opportunities and gaps to agreed business plan, along with bridging actions
- Report on and manage inventory levels highlighting risks and actions
- Support the business by developing high value insights into customers and products
- Engage in continuous improvement of the demand planning and S&OP processes
- Manage implementation of a Demand and Inventory IT system, such as NetStock
- Continuously improve the sales forecasting processes and inventory planning process to ensure the consistent, cost-effective supply of products to customers
- Monitor the sales performance of new products and develop a history that can be used as a guide to future launches
- Provide input into the forecasts for new products
- Monitor and evaluate promotional and other sales and marketing activities
About the successful candidate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in demand or supply chain planning
- Advanced analytical skills, including using Excel and BI (desirable)
- ERP – ideally includes Sage
- Knowledge and experience of S&OP processes (desirable)
- Has implemented (ideally) or worked with demand and inventory management systems and applications, such as NetStock
- Ability to work both independently and highly collaboratively with wider teams
- Highly effective communication skills; written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to achieve optimum for the business
- Has completed higher education in this or a related area (desirable)
- Confident with the use of IT systems such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases, and function specific software.

This is a crucial role within our Supply Chain Team, coordinating manufacturing activities to ship customer orders on time and in full, while maintaining inventory of stocked lines for same day shipment.

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Planner to join our expanding business and be part of creating excellence within our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and working closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Demand Planning and sub-contractors, you will:
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Production Planning and Scheduling Systems
- Manage the Production plans and schedule, considering capacities, materials and requirements of customers and inter-company inventory replenishment
- Develop the Production Planning aspects of our Sage ERP system and processes to continuously improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
Duties & responsibilities
- Raise Works Orders in line with Sage reorder points and schedule requirements, ensuring complete information and materials are available
- Use Sage to monitor and maintain inventory of stocked lines for same day shipment
- Create, monitor and manage schedules for the injection moulding shop, light manufacturing and assembly
- Plan and coordinate subcontract assembly
- Review progress to schedule and align capacity with demand, highlighting constraints, bottlenecks and required corrective actions
- Lead daily planning meetings to update teams on schedules, priorities and any operational changes
- Work with UK Sales, Manufacturing and Purchasing to establish and meet customer delivery dates on time and in full, every time.
- Calculate manufacturing and delivery times to ensure timely order fulfillment and efficient labour allocation
- Coordinate sample requests, ensuring samples are created, shipped, and qualitychecked, while collaborating with Sales, New Product Development (NPD), and Quality Control (QC) to ensure they meet specifications.
- Work closely with Purchasing to ensure timely delivery of materials
- Develop data and insight to help identify improvements in the flow of material, manufacturing processes and efficiencies
- Conduct capacity and forward planning, including analysing future projects, shift patterns, and company growth projections, to assess required hours, maintain reorder levels, and ensure adequate resource allocation for efficient production
- Creation and maintenance of production planning parameters, such as routings
About the successful candidate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in planning, manufacturing or supply chain role
- In depth knowledge and experience of ERP, ideally Sage
- Strong ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex situations, identify key issues and develop practical solutions
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to find solutions
- Customer focused and drive to perform every day
- Commercially aware and acumen to fully understand their impact on costs, customer satisfaction and ultimately business success
- Highly effective communication skills; written and oral.
